Modern Farmhouse Renovation

Kitching & Living Room Remodel

A Light and Bright Transformation

The homeowners came to us with a very clear idea of what they wanted their finished open concept kitchen and living room to look like. Our challenge was removing the large wall and a gas fireplace that stood between them.

Style: Modern Farmhouse

The Process

The main living area and the kitchen/dining room were separated by a wall running the length of the room. Our challenge was to remove the wall and the gas fireplace that was there, elevate the ceilings, match the current hardwood floors and turn this modern home into a modern farmhouse.

We added texture by incorporating a 100 year old 8″ hand hewn beam for the mantel and the floating shelves in the kitchen. We created a semi-cathedral ceiling and added 5 hefty rafter beams for visual interest. The large island included plenty of storage and big windows were brought in for a ton of natural light.
