We are proud to be apart of a wonderful & giving community.

It didn’t take long for word to get out that CQC was at it again. We wanted to help out at a local charity fair. This will be our second community event just this Summer 🙂

A client of ours, Amanda, whom also pitched in to help volunteer her time for our 2013 ALS benefit honoring Chris Rosati & his Inspire MEdia Foundation – jumped at the opportunity to give of her time and money again! She is a true inspiration for how to give back.

When asked why she wanted to help out again, Amanda’s response was heartfelt;

“I work at Aveda salon which has great values, similar to how my family tries to be, about giving back. We donate to charity whenever we have a chance, including sponsoring families for Christmas and volunteering at the Duke Cancer Center. I thank God for the opportunities that have been given to me and that I was raised to recognize all of it.”

You see, her dad has MS. So, the 2014 Durham Vendors Fair supporting MS hit home for her.

“I remember being bummed because dad was in the hospital and we had to postpone vacation, I also remember being really worried because he was having a flare up of his Multiple Sclerosis. Over the years I watched my mom pack up pill cases to last his entire road trips for work. That was 20 years ago. I have never seen anything get in the way of what my dad wants to do, and maybe this is why he is still able to walk, drive truck and ride motorcycles…”

Amanda continued “I am luckier than most kids who find out a parent has this autoimmune disease. He taught me how to ride a dirt bike and a motorcycle, he took my brother and I target shooting and drove us across country with him. Other kids don’t get the time like we did with our dad having this disease. My parents always helped give back, even in times they weren’t in the best position to do so.”

Amanda is right, most aren’t so lucky.

What is MS?

According to WebMD Damon Maharg, although symptoms vary patient to patient, early signs can include:
  • severe fatigue
  • tingling or numbness
  • vision problems
As the disease progresses
  • cognitive and memory issues
  • sexual dysfunction
  • difficulty swallowing
  • muscle spasms
  • even paralysis of the limbs

We ask that you join us in this fight for a cure and better treatment options for those living with MS and Leukemia. Visit us at the Vedor Fair – buy raffle tickets for chances to win great prizes. Such as the one that Amanda has offered at her Aveda Salon. FREE hour facial and brow wax!
